Technical assistance for the implementation of a programme to prevent youth violence and crime in precarious urban areas of the city of Guatemala (CONVIVIR) (consortium with SUM Consult and SANIPLAN)

The objective of CONVIVIR, implemented in Guatemala City, is to promote youth participation in the revitalisation and utilisation of safe public spaces in selected communities. Infrastructure projects will ease and facilitate access to public spaces. Additionally, the Programme strengthens employment and social skills of youths. Using different participatory methods, the Programme aims to include the local population, not only youths. It is expected that the active participation will foster the sustainable use of infrastructure projects.

The Programme foresees the following activities:

• Construction, improvement and equipment of social infrastructure and public spaces for youths;

• Capacity building of involved institutions, municipalities and communities;
