New Erasmus+ project QA4VET to strengthen the quality of vocational education and training

involas supports Armenian partners in developing effective Quality Assurance structures

The Quality Assurance for Vocational Education and Training project, QA4VET for short, aims to strengthen quality management and accreditation in vocational education and training in Armenia. A European consortium will support the Armenian partners in implementing European standards. The Erasmus+ project has now been launched.

EU cooperation for quality development in vocational education and training

QA4VET is a project of the European Commission. In the project consortium, involas is working with the Romanian National Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-University Education ARACIP (as consortium leader), the Armenian National Accreditation Agency ANQA, several Armenian vocational education and training institutions, and a research institute. Together, the partners contribute their experience from the European quality framework and international good practices to strengthen Armenian actors in the field of quality management in vocational education and training.

The demand is high: while vocational education and training systems in the EU have been guided by European standards such as the European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education and Training (EQARF) for years, Armenia is still in the early stages of this development. ANQA recently took on the task of accrediting vocational training institutions and supporting them in establishing internal quality assurance systems. QA4VET aims to create a structured exchange of experience, ranging from the transfer of best practices to the testing of new procedures.

Planned knowledge transfer and initial activities

The first workshops and training sessions for the consortium partners are scheduled for the coming months. A kick-off workshop will take place in Armenia in spring 2025 to clarify the support needs of the Armenian partners and define common priorities. Based on this, involas and ARACIP will develop a comprehensive training kit that brings together various European approaches to internal quality assurance and external accreditation in vocational education and training and presents them in a practical way. Further training courses are planned for fall 2025 in Romania and for 2026 in Germany. These will focus on current challenges such as digitalization, sustainability, and the simulation of accreditation procedures.

Quality assurance in vocational education and training has been a high priority in the EU for years: The European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET) provides a common reference framework that can be used to systematically plan, implement, evaluate, and further develop quality in education and training. EQAVET is part of the European quality strategy supported by the EU Commission, member states, and other stakeholders, which promotes the development of sustainable quality systems in vocational education and training. With QA4VET, involas is contributing to European cooperation and the sustainable development of quality structures in vocational education and training. Key European initiatives are being incorporated into a transformation process that can have positive effects far beyond the project's duration.
