Jordanian delegation at involas

In December 2022, involas organised a study tour for partners of the GIZ project "Employment-oriented qualification in the crafts sector" from Jordan: Representatives of the Jordanian Ministry of Labour, the Vocational Training Authority (TVSDC), two state providers of vocational training (Vocational Training Corporation and National Employment and Training Company) as well as the German-Jordanian University explored from 11 to 17 December 2022 together with the involas project team Jordan central challenges and approaches in the field of vocational training, vocational orientation and securing skilled labour in Hesse and in Germany.

The study tour marks a milestone of the project component "Vocational Orientation and Guidance", which involas has been leading since 2020 with the support of the Belgian consortium partner IBF on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationaler Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Jordan. Other milestones of the project included the development of a professional standard for career counsellors and a corresponding qualification, which was formally anchored in the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework. By the end of November 2022, more than 150 professionals had already been trained as recognised career counsellors.

Against the backdrop of the German education and training system, the participants of the Jordanian delegation gained insights into central challenges on the German labour market and explored the solutions offered by various institutions. The concepts and measures of career guidance and counselling, and in particular the challenges and opportunities in recruiting skilled workers for the skilled crafts sector, met with very great interest among the guests.

The study visitors benefited from involas' network with national institutions of vocational education, guidance and counselling in the Hessian and German institutional landscape. The projects located in the national business area of involas - OloV - the Hesse-wide strategy for optimising local placement work in the transition from school to work (https://www.olov-hessen.de/), the quality seal for vocational and study orientation in Hesse and the network Berufswahl-SIEGEL (www.netzwerk-berufswahlsiegel.de) as well as QuABB - Qualifizierte Asubildungsbegleitung in Betrieb und Berufsschule (www.quabb-hessen.de) provided authentic insight into conceptual approaches and lived practice.
