Evaluation of the pilot project to gain nursing staff from selected third countries for the German labour market

Last week, our involas evaluation team visited the University Hospital Bonn on behalf of the Bertelsmann Stiftung. Combined forces from the national and international business unit with extensive expertise in nursing sciences, international vocational training and quality certification conducted interviews for the final evaluation of the pilot project "Vocational Training Partnership in Nursing between Germany and the Philippines (2020-2023)". The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Health and the Bertelsmann Stiftung and implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the University Hospital Bonn. The aim of the project is to support the recruitment of nursing staff for the German labour market through qualification measures in selected third countries. To this purpose, various models for the (adaptation) qualification of trained nurses or nurses in training are being implemented as pilot measures in the Philippines and Mexico, which aim to achieve a nursing qualification that is directly recognisable in Germany, including the required language level. involas has been evaluating the project since the beginning, also on behalf of the GIZ.
