Optimizing Vocational Education in Armenia: QA4VET Kick-Off Event

On March 18 and 19, 2025, the kick-off event of the Erasmus+ project QA4VET on quality assurance in vocational education and training (VET) took place in Armenia. In the project, involas is cooperating as the German partner with institutions from Armenia and Romania. Through the transfer of know-how from the EU, the project aims to support the Armenian partners in further developing and improving the national system for accreditation in vocational education and the quality management systems of VET institutions. In particular, the introduction of simulated accreditation procedures will be planned and piloted.

The kick-off event, held on the first day at the Medical-Humanitarian College in Vardenis and on the second day at the Regional State College No. 2 in Yerevan (both project partners), primarily served to introduce the participating partner institutions and to align on project objectives, work packages, timeline, and partner roles. In addition, rules for collaboration and project management as well as reporting requirements regarding the use of EU funding were agreed upon.

QA4VET Focus on Green and Digital Transformation in Armenia

A key focus of the event was identifying the training needs of the Armenian partners. The Romanian National Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-University Education (ARACIP) and involas first presented European approaches and the main aspects of internal and external quality assurance in the EU. Based on these inputs, the Armenian partners compiled a list of priority topics for which they see a particular need for further training and support from ARACIP and involas.

This list now serves as a guideline for the development of training materials by ARACIP and involas in the coming months. The first training event is planned to take place in Bucharest in September.

The QA4VET project supports the improvement of quality assurance in the Armenian VET system through the development and piloting of mock accreditation procedures tailored to national needs and aligned with European standards. The project places a strong emphasis on green and digital transformation and combines an analysis of European quality assurance practices with targeted capacity building for Armenian VET staff. QA4VET is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme.
